Voice of Baceprot (VOB) is a trailblazing Indonesian all-female metal trio known for shattering stereotypes and bringing heavy music to the global stage. Formed by three hijab-wearing students - Marsya (vocals & guitar), Widi (bass), and Siti (drums), in the small village of Singajaya, West Java, the band rose to fame in 2017 while still in vocational school. Their breakout moment came when a live video of their original song “The Enemy of Earth is You” went viral, propelling them into the international spotlight.

The name, “Baceprot,” comes from the Sundanese word for “noisy”, a perfect reflection of their sound and bold message. VOB's roots trace back to Islamic junior high school, where their music teacher, Cep Ersa Eka Susila Satia (aka Abah Erza), introduced them to music and encouraged their passion—ultimately coining the name Voice of Baceprot.

Since then, the trio has captivated global audiences with their unapologetic blend of metal, heavy rock, punk, and social commentary, tackling issues like environmental destruction, gender equality, and freedom of expression. They’ve performed alongside full orchestras (including Erwin Gutawa Orchestra), did multiple international tours and have graced some of the world’s most iconic stages. VOB made history as the first Indonesian band to perform at Glastonbury Festival, and they’ve also delivered a blistering set at Wacken Open Air, the largest metal festival in the world.

VOB has been spotlighted by major global media outlets like The New York Times, BBC, NPR, DW, Reuters, and The Guardian, with Metal Hammer dubbing them “the Metal Band the World Needs Right Now.” In 2025, the band is embarking on a new chapter with the upcoming release of their second EP, bringing their powerful message to even more corners of the world.

From small-town classrooms to international festival stages, Voice of Baceprot continues to redefine what it means to be loud, proud, and unstoppable.

[PRESS RELEASE] A Bold New Chapter: Voice of Baceprot Unleashes Explosive Mini Album “TRANSISI”

Fri, 23 May 2025

[English Version]

After introducing a series of powerful new singles between late 2024 and early 2025, Voice of Baceprot (VoB) now returns with a complete collection. The all-female metal trio—Firda “Marsya” Kurnia (guitar & vocals), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Sitti Aisah (drums)—officially release their latest mini album, TRANSISI. This EP stands as a bold musical statement about transformation, growth, and resistance to stagnation—both personal, social, and musical.

Featuring six explosive tracks, TRANSISI marks a new era in VoB’s artistic journey: more mature, more outspoken, and more fearless than ever. Not only does it deliver their signature thunderous sound, but each track also carries sharp, reflective narratives exploring social, political, and spiritual realities faced by the band—and perhaps, by many of us today.

The self-produced EP opens with “Mighty Island,” an energetic and rousing track. The song serves as a metaphor for a promised land taken away from its people—an electrifying revolutionary anthem of liberation.

Next comes “RENEGADE SHEEP,” a capital-lettered title that doubles as a battle cry for free spirits who choose to go against the current. "This is a voice for those who no longer want to be silenced members of the herd," Marsya, the band’s lyricist, explains.

Track three, “Put The Gun Down,” delivers a powerful message of peace amidst an increasingly brutal world. It sheds light on the humanity often hidden behind acts of violence and legalized repression.

Continuing this spirit, VoB presents a searing critique of Indonesia’s current political climate in “Madness of The Present Century.” The track rages against normalized nepotism, abuses of power, and blatant corruption. It is a raw, honest protest and a refusal to accept a system that no longer serves its people.

As the EP nears its end, “The Other Side of Metalism” takes a more introspective and philosophical turn. The song explores the spiritual dimensions of heavy music—as a form of deep expression that transcends genre boundaries.

Finally, a remastered version of “Rumah Tanah Tidak Dijual”—previously released as part of the IKLIM compilation by Music Declares Indonesia—closes the EP with a reflective tone. The track speaks to the ongoing threat of deforestation and land grabbing under the guise of development, mining, or tourism. "Since we were teens, we often overheard adults talking about turning forests, rivers, valleys, mountains—even rice fields—into tourist destinations," VoB recalls.

With TRANSISI, Voice of Baceprot asserts themselves as more than just a band—they are the voice of a generation in flux: questioning everything, doubting the status quo, and courageously igniting the spark of change.

All tracks on the TRANSISI EP were produced by Christopher Bollemeyer (aka Coki NTRL), with vocals and drums recorded at Syaelendra Studio, and guitars and bass tracked at PM16 Studio, Coki’s personal studio, with engineer Iphe Topan. Mixing and mastering were handled by Ivan Gojaya at Roemah Iponk, and the album cover was created by Akmal Abdurahman (@akawork280).

TRANSISI is now available on all major digital streaming platforms. This six-track mini album is said to be a prelude to a full-length album currently in the works. For now, listen, feel, and become a part of the TRANSISI that VoB is bringing forward.

Terang Marsya, penulis lirik.

Menjelang penutup, “The Other Side of Metalism” hadir dengan nada yang penuh introspektif dan filosofis.

“Sejak remaja kami sering mencuri dengar obrolan orang-orang dewasa tentang wacana alih fungsi hutan, sungai, lembah, gunung, bahkan sawah menjadi wahana-wahana wisata..” Terang VOB.

[PRESS RELEASE] Responding to Current Issues, Voice of Baceprot Releases Single Put The Gun Down

Fri, 25 Apr 2025

[English Version]

Garut, April 22, 2025 – Following the release of their previous single “Mighty Island” a few months ago, the heavy metal trio from Garut, Voice of Baceprot (VoB)—consisting of Firda “Marsya” Kurnia (guitar & vocals), Widi Rahmawati (bass), and Euis Sitti Aisah (drums)—returns with renewed energy, dropping their latest single titled “Put The Gun Down” on April 25, 2025. This track serves as a response to recent social and political conditions, as well as a call against the growing repression and injustice felt by the younger generation today.

In their statement, VoB expressed their concern over the increasingly troubling socio-political climate. “Today, our sanity is being tested. Policies that are being enacted no longer reflect wisdom—they only bring suffering to the people,” they declared.

Through Put The Gun Down, VoB firmly voices their rejection of all forms of violence, oppression, and policies that perpetuate corruption and suppress freedom of expression. The song is described as a curse against oppressive power and a system that allows the “predators of life” to continue to thrive and rob the nation’s future.

“This song is like an alarm bell—reminding us that things are not okay,” VoB stated in their official release.

As young musicians who often use their music to raise social awareness, VoB emphasized that they feel a moral responsibility to stand on the side of humanity. With Put The Gun Down, VoB reminds listeners that art is not only about aesthetics, but also a relevant tool for resistance.

“As musicians who are still struggling to sustain our livelihoods, we are fully aware that our creative expression will always be tied to the moral responsibility of safeguarding life as it should be. That art must be born from the womb of honesty and truly take the side of humanity,” Marsya explained.

The single has been released on various digital music platforms and is poised to become an anthem for those continuing to resist injustice. With its powerful guitar riffs and fiery lyrics, VoB once again demonstrates that music is a loud and vital weapon in the fight against oppression.

“Put The Gun Down” is also projected to be part of an upcoming EP scheduled for release in the coming months.

Garut, 22 April 2025 – Setelah beberapa bulan lalu melepas single bertajuk “Mighty Island” trio heavy metal asal Garut, Voice of Baceprot (VoB), yang dihuni Firda “Marsya” Kurnia (gitar & vocal), Widi Rahmawati (bass), Euis Sitti Aisah (drum) kembali mengisi amunisi dan melepaskan single terbarunya berjudul “Put The Gun Down” pada 25 April 2025.

[PRESS RELEASE] Mighty Island: The Song of Our Fragile Earth

Thu, 13 Feb 2025

Flashback to 2021, the powerful trio of Voice of Baceprot (VoB) —Marsya on guitar and vocals, Widi on bass, and Sitti on drums— found themselves reflecting on the deep connection between humans and nature. They began to dig into the reality that our actions as humans have become the driving force behind the damage to our environment.

This harsh truth forced them to confront a painful question: “What can we, as humans, do to stop being the ones who are wrecking it all?”

With that question lingering, VoB returned to conversations they’d had, and the books they’d stumbled upon, letting their worries pour into a new song called “Mighty Island”. The title might sound peaceful, but the message bites with satire.

With the distorted guitars swelling, the lyrics call out humankind as the ones responsible for destroying what was once a vibrant, life-sustaining ecosystem. There’s a part where Marsya draws on a Sundanese proverb—there’s anger and fear laced into it, a deep worry for what’s to come.

As the song heads towards its close, we hear the Sundanese language woven into the lyrics—a tender reminder that once upon a time, we cared for this planet, treated it with respect and love.

Mighty Island paints a raw picture of what’s happening to the earth: the forests we’ve torn down, the oceans we’ve polluted, the animals we’ve driven to the brink, and the reckless way we’re pushing the planet into crisis.

VoB explains that they chose the word Island in the title as a symbol of the bitter truth—that this once beautiful, strong Earth, full of life, is now being stripped away by the greed of the powerful and the blind indifference of society, with ruthless corporations stomping all over environmental protections in the name of profit.

Ahead of the official release, VoB has dropped a lyric video on their YouTube channel, an early step to help spread their message even further.

“We did this to shout our concerns louder,” Marsya says. “We see this as a way of reclaiming a space for our art, a home for our voices.”

“We know that raising awareness—like so many others have tried to do—about the need for real action to protect the environment is a long, tough road. But even in the midst of growing anxiety, we’re trying to hold on to hope. Maybe this song can spark something, inspire people not to stop at just realizing what’s wrong but to actually do something about it. Maybe it can encourage people to take real steps to save the earth and our future,” she adds.

So, for VoB, Mighty Island is a wake-up call. A reminder that we, as humans, are responsible for protecting this planet so that it can thrive for generations to come.

“We hope this song stirs something, awakens some sense before it’s really too late,” Widi says.

“Take this song as a small token, proof that the earth and its people were here,” Sitti closes.
